me... opening for jane siberry?

Every now and then I like to post something on here about my musical journey. I'd be remiss if I didn't fill you in on this one.

Next Thursday, November 5, I have the opportunity to spend the afternoon with iconic Canadian singer/songwriter Issa (formerly known as Jane Siberry). Some of the Noted girls and I will be opening for her show that evening at the Livery in Goderich. Now that's a day I never dreamed up.

I love hearing the stories of others. Issa has a fascinating recent history...

In 2006, Issa let go of the name ‘Jane Siberry’. She also let go of her home and most of her possessions and began a new journey of “living her to-do list.” She described the impetus as "change or die, do you know what I mean?"

Issa spent two years writing and recording in Belgium, England, Australia, the United States and Canada. The result is a collections of songs that will be released on three separate CDs telling a ‘Scherezadian’ story that will come to an end on the third installment.

The first part, Dragon Dreams, was released in November, 2008.
The second part, With What Shall I Keep Warm? will be released November, 2009.

So her first concert is in Goderich and since the Noted CD includes two covers of her songs, I understand she'll be joining us girls for lunch and a songwriting workshop before the concert. The day promises to be anything but ordinary!

Thanksgiving

A few quick photos from Thanksgiving weekend...

We took the last couple of days of Tim's holidays to spend extra time with Tim's mom and Dave as well as my family and some friends in the Hamilton area. So glad we did. It's never the same when a family member is missing -- which was the case at both gatherings -- but we still have more blessings than we can count.

I haven't been nearly as snap happy of late, but here are a few faves...

One quick post before we are with family for Thanksgiving.

I laughed this morning as Eliana delighted in wearing sunglasses around the house for a while. A summer girl just like her ma, perhaps?

It's amazing how quickly she has become solid on her two little feet....
