ironman

Those of you who have been following Tim's Ironman story have been very patient in waiting for the story of yesterday's amazing race! It will take some time to create a blog that will do justice to a day that had me on the verge of tears for hours at a time. And being that we're on holidays, I haven't wanted to be glued to the computer.

The short summary: Tim had an amazing day at his long-awaited Ironman yesterday. He said the day was "glorious". He so enjoyed the course and has nothing to compare it to in terms of its unique experience of both suffering and inspiration. Not only did he FINISH, but he also finished within the time goals he had set for each of the swim, bike and run... and came out smiling (and still able to walk and talk) on the other side! He finished in 12 hours 19 minutes. We're thrilled for him... and truly, for all 2251 athletes that competed (of which 90% finished).

More to come another day. For now, I've posted pictures with some commentary on facebook which I believe anyone can look at whether or they have a facebook account. And you can peek at official race photos here! (There's a few imposters in the mix. I'm sure you can pick 'em out. I'm just amazed at how quickly they sort through the tens of thousands of photos taken so that we can view Tim's photos already.)

As for me, I've never witnessed anything like it. What it demands of both the body and the mind is beyond my understanding... even up close. I am inspired!
