lava lianna
This is a little unusual for my blog, but I couldn't help but devote a post to Lianna (Tim's sister). Lianna is a lady who lives life large, who dreams bigger than most anyone I know and then pursues those dreams with gusto. Just to give you an example, in the last few years, she has participated in a tall ships race in the Atlantic representing Ireland (yes, Ireland!), has written an excellent e-book on Parkinson's that has been extremely helpful to thousands of people touched by the disease, moved to beautiful Victoria BC, and has pursued multiple sports (pentathlon, long-distance swimming, triathlon) at a national level.
Lianna only took up the sport of triathlon in the last year, tried out the sport in Switzerland on a borrowed mountain bike, and did first official triathlon just this weekend in Hawaii at the Lavaman Triathlon. (See what I mean -- why stay local when you can dream big?) And she had an incredible race. As an article from Lifesport put it:
Lianna Doherty in her first triathlon posted a very strong 2:33 clocking highlighted by a 21 minute swim and a 45min 10k run to finish on the podium in 4th in the Women’s 35-39.
While the greatest successes in life are often the quiet, steady and uncelebrated ones, I just had to take a moment to celebrate Live-Large-Lianna. Congratulations, Lan! You're inspiring.
