legacy recording
Last night I was spoiled by a dozen women whose voices completed my song, "Legacy of Love". I wrote out three parts for this 'choir' of Huron women to learn on the same night as our recording... and they took on the challenge beautifully. Here's a little sneak peak of us rehearsing:
As we rehearsed, I couldn't help but think about Mary Walker-Thiel, whose funeral the day before spoke volumes of how she left just this kind of legacy. I don't know if you've ever been challenged to write your own eulogy before, but when I reflected on this sometime last year, I couldn't think of anything more meaningful for people to say at the end of my life than, "She loved well". Really, when you think about it, only love remains (1 Cor. 13).
All the goals and successes I might try to achieve mean little at the end of my life if I haven't loved generously. And as I sat in the overflow section of the church and reflected on Mary's life with about five hundred others, it became clear that Mary loved well.... with a generous and yet quiet love that reminds me of Christ.
