thanksgiving thoughts

Doesn't it seem ironic that while we spent Thanksgiving Day at an Ontario beach in 30 degree heat, my sister in Saskatchewan couldn't drive to see her friend in Alberta because the roads were too icy?

In spite of battling illness at the beginning of our trip, we had a great holiday week. We swapped houses with Tim's mom again. It's a pretty sweet trade, as they have a lakefront property south of Algonquin -- a part of the planet that we just can't seem to get enough of.

Here's a little clip from one of our hikes.

Our step dad spent years as a paratrooper with the British army and has scads of stories -- most of which we've never heard. But he loves to tell his stories to Maia. Of course, most of them get edited for her sake, and some get made up entirely. This one had us chuckling. Notice how captive she is to the story?

I leave you with one of my favourite photos from the week. She's so scrunchable when she actually wants to be hugged!
