snow queen

This month, Maia has been discovering snow. She loves winter. In fact, she begs to go outside at times. She is undoubtedly an outdoor girl... a "heat tank" like her dad. I'm a rather un-Canadian Canadian at times, and find it hard to enjoy the weather for a good portion of the year. But Maia is going to be very patriotic, I think.

Tim introduced her to snowballs recently. With her current fascination with "balls" (her most common word of the last couple of weeks), the snowball was a smashing hit.... pun intended.

And if you get her all dressed up in her pink eskimo suit, she couldn't be more delighted than to simply run around in the front yard smiling and feeling the snow beneath her feet.

She keeps throwing her head back while outside. At first I thought this was just simple delight. But as we sat and watched her Baby Einstein video on the seasons on Saturday, I realized she's been inspired by a scene in the video: Puppet enters. Puppet opens its mouth to catch some snow in it. The snow stops falling. This repeats several times until finally, puppet throws back its head, opens its mouth and catches a whole mouth full of snow! Now I think THIS is why Maia has been throwing her head back outside (especially while it's lightly snowing). She cracks me up.
