compassion

My friend Richard Dew writes a column called "That's What I Think" for Compassion magazine. He has just posted a live version of his latest blog. It's so compelling that I had to post it here and encourage you to take a few minutes to be challenged and moved.

I just found out that I've been nominated for a 2007 Shai Award (Folk album of the year). The Shai Awards are sort of the Christian peoples-choice awards. So that's kind of neat.

And yet my enthusiasm is muted... because recognition from other people is one thing, but how much does it really matter in the end?

I like the way Richard puts it in his blog: "I only really care about one thing. I only want the opportunity to one day stand before the Creator of the universe -- the Great 'I am', the Lover of my soul, the Redeemer of my life -- I only care to hear Him say 'Well done'."

Thanks,Richard, for helping keep it all in perspective.

Incredibly inspiring. Natalya watched the video with me - and although she didn't understand his words entirely - she understood the message. We decided to sponsor a child as a family in the New Year. Thanks Richard.

And congrats on the nomination for the Shai Award Mo!!! I'm so proud of you and I may just be your biggest fan! Your album will be sold all over NZ soon!
