podsolnechnik

Last year, I planted a package of Russian Giant Sunflowers in our backyard. A few came up. This year, I didn't plant any. One of the seeds must have survived last winter and taken root mid-summer because this week we have one gorgeous sunflower in our backyard.
I couldn't title this one in English -- it seemed too magnificent for a common title. So "podsolnechnik" is Russian for "sunflower". If you don't believe me, look at this site where you can also learn to say "sunflower" in Hungarian or Korean if you want. Why is it that one solo sunflower seems more beautiful to me than a bunch of them?

I too think that one solo sunflower is also beautiful, you're able to appreciate its' uniqueness, because you have nothing to compare it with
